flight of the phoenix

 looking at my scars i get an uncureable urge 
to reopen them and watch the blood stream

the purple lines across my pale skin illuminate
depression and it's grotesque struggle for freedom

the desire to feel the pain of the razors relief
torments my minds fragile system of broken wires

the demons eat at the pinch of happiness i once had
devouring all positive sense of emotion and expression

then the promise stands forward as a reminder
pushing the demons aside and saving me from relapse

my life is dark but i can finally see the light
with the promise i made to you i will fight

sometimes the darkness may seem all the more darker
but the light of your love is so much stronger

it's time for the phoenix to take it's flight
let's see it's fiery soul wipe out the pain of life
