Silent?

People don't know how to be comfortable in silence. It kills those who do.

silence kills?

No; silence is a respit. Small talk kills. A hundred times a day I want to say, "Stop talking." But, I smile instead while the knife twists my solar plexus, that many pointed star of nerves that craves a silent sanctuary of writing.*  
 
*Animal chatter is okay...

Oh. I am the same. My thoughts drift far while I am loaded with small talk.

But people? With mouths? a bit of wit, and fast tongues? They always find something to say.
A means of nullifying pain by grinding it into small sentences and blowing out words like ash, I'm guessing.

Anyway, I have found peace with it.

Hi Wanderer......silence means different for everyone.......for me I can't stand it most times......it makes me feel lost in life......I have to have noise around me all the time....not always poeple talking....radio...tv......I talk with very few these days.....just how it's gotten to be......enjoyed this...very thought provoking.....purple luv & hugs xo :)

Sitting in silence, with the right person, is magical. With some other people, small talk is all that's possible. It's a shame it can be so hard to say the meaningful stuff with so many people. I gravitate towards the other kind.

You are right. It is a damn shame. I reckon some things are the same across the board.  

Many talk just to hear their own voice, many talk but never really say anything. I’m of the belief that silence is golden when words in a particular moment begins to cut. When we speak before thinking, we create dialogue that becomes hostel and combative....

Talking and doing nothing about it.

So yeah silence agreed.

I suppose silence has a different meaning for everyone.
Silence can be golden, other times it can make one ache with loneliness.
Depth and meaningful conversation is so very rare these days.
It makes a heart long deeply.
