frequent flyer mile restrictions
I shudder beneath my blankets
And there she is again
that girl
in that little village
that has no clean water
I laugh
it was the great wandering dog
without a home
it melts away
and she and her cub will drown
or starve
or both
too much
too little
but what am I to give
a fuck
sorry I don't
just $1.25 a day
he says
the price of a cup of coffee
saves the girl
and her family
$2.00 for the bear
my Glivec is $298 a day
$79 in Mexico
I guess we all live in the wrong place

it's always remarkable the way you

Oddly enough it was just one of those things where bits and pieces just fell together ... Including a favorite cousin being diagnosed with cancer (fatal) ... Thanks for the feedback - always appreciated from you

Wow, SanPedro. Aside from being very well written,
I hope it's not true regarding the Glivec.
I have often wondered how much of the money
goes to those in third-world countries. I fear pennies,
if any. Best of in the comp.

Thank you for your concern ... The Glivec reference was more a nod to a cousin who was recently diagnosed with myeloma. I couldn't help but think how better off he'd be living in Mexico where meds are so much cheaper ... But the water ... ? Plenty in the North Pole where the great bears are dying because the glaciers are melting ...
I'm glad those like yourself appreciated the irony ... Many thanks

Well Lo I had to google Glivec to see if I had the point of your poem right and I did ... phew ....
I really do like how you've put your point across with so little words as opposed to some newspaper article that tries to say the same thing .... well done ... :)

Writing those haiku does pay, one learns to tell the story quick. I had to look up Glivec myself, shocked at the pricing levels globally ... This world is so upside down.
Thanks as always dear Kate.

Thanks for the feedback Jen ... Let's hope none of the ones we love ever need to know what it is.

Oh wow, you punched me in the gut with those last few lines. Great observation of just how messed up this world is, and with so few words!
Beautifully done.

Glad you felt the intended blow ... I was a little worried the pieces were literally to far flung to connect the irony of how each has what the other needs
Many thanks.
