The Closure I Never Received

I must confess
As well as profess.
That I fell in love with the person I once thought you were.
Your physical exterior masked the creature you truly are and eventually made me become.
I fell for those sweet endless kisses, soft like a rose which you placed on my lips as you
stabbed at my heart with those thorns
Until our love fell apart, petal by petal, and inevitably disappeared.
In love with the white lies in which you seasoned my food
See I was in a trance,
Allowing myself to fall victim to your heart break system
I sought comfort to fill my void
Crowned you as my King
Yet I was your peasant
The connection I so desperately longed for was fictional.
Craving intellectual intercourse deep like an abyss
I was only your 'Valentine love'
You showed me off
For the world to see, yet
You played me like a trumpet
Because a guitar had strings.
If there was love, it was propaganda
Every word , I bought into
Craved your undying loyalty,
Yet never received it.
My body was lustful, my soul young
And when you left me for her
I fell in love with the thought that you never existed.
A conspiracy if you will.
It helps me sleep at night .
