Lust Or Love
That rush of love at the very start
Seems to tear right through your eager heart
And the days and nights
Spent in loves embrace
Take your heart’s desire
To a different place
But it fades too fast
This rush you feel
And then one must find
What is really real
Will you travel down that path
And find out what you mean to her or him
After lust has died and you must decide
Whether love is there or was it just a whim
Since love can be hard
That much we all know
Since it’s not just sex
And the afterglow
It can be hard work
Full of compromise
Can you see that there
In your lover’s eyes
Or will you turn and run
As we all have done
And go in search of love
In the form of fun

Too many people do this! When infatuation phase or lust fades, they run, not realizing that is how relationships work and after that you evolve to the next stage where love is found and grows. The exclusively 'fun' mentality is not one I can identify with, and it really sucks to have been caught up with others who are stuck there. Ugh.
I liked this piece because it encourages reflection and many questions people should ask themselves. Perhaps it comes down to one knowing what they want and accepting the hard work that comes along with getting it. No one likes hard work, but when you see beautiful results, you learn it's worth it. Thanks for the read.

It is a good thing to slow down sometimes and I know it well. You've got to take some time out of the day to ponder things. If I didn't then I'd spend the entire day pacing around with my mind in overdrive.
