IN THE DARK OF THE NIGHT
In the night while you're fast asleep
Ominous spirits awaken and begin to creep
Forces from an evil realm
Use the dark to take the helm
Shadows hover above your head
Filling your dreams with visions of dread
You shiver as they gently trace
Icy fingers across your sleeping face
Closing in, stealing your breath
Will they choose you to join them in death,
Leaving behind your empty shell
As they drag your sleeping soul to hell?
If you manage to survive the night
They'll retreat with the morning light
But remember when you're sound asleep
Ominous spirits will return to creep

Love the dark descriptive imagery and the flowing cadence. Excellent rhyming and how it almost sounds like an incantation. Six thumbs up :)

Lol.....yes this was written when my nights were long and dark. I'm glad u liked it.
I'm trying to get the rest of my poems off a site called fanstory where I used to write but they want me to pay $50 to unlock my page and resubscrive which I don't have. Ima have to beg admin for my work. 😕
