EMANATE
I am what I am
The square root of minus one
A sun ray on stained glass
On perfumed jalebiyas
On magnolia sanghati and sari
An infinite echo of prayer drums
That enter me and multiply
An emanate of empathy
To all sentient beings in all possible worlds
A vesper struck by a zephyr
A treasure without measure
Amongst the suns but one
The freedom of will
The coin in the well
A pearl in the shell
But a tear in the sea of Mokshar
The square root of minus one
A sun ray on stained glass
On perfumed jalebiyas
On magnolia sanghati and sari
An infinite echo of prayer drums
That enter me and multiply
An emanate of empathy
To all sentient beings in all possible worlds
A vesper struck by a zephyr
A treasure without measure
Amongst the suns but one
The freedom of will
The coin in the well
A pearl in the shell
But a tear in the sea of Mokshar

To all sentient beings in all possible worlds
Love that you used sentient beings to include animals as well. Sometimes I think our compassion is challenged through how we treat stray and/or suffering animals as much as homeless and/or suffering humans as well as the earth. I also enjoyed the last stanza symbolizing freedom, wishing, and beauteous treasure from irritant grains of sand. But of all only reaching one with the Divine shall humble us to tears. May we all reach Mokshar.
Well done, Whale. Thanks for sharing.

your empathy is not misplaced. It is a wonder how such beings walk on with massive boulders of mind-and-body scars on their shoulders.
Loved the progressiveness of the poem. The last line is more than captivating enough to be my favorite.
It drops-- then the ripple effect takes form

my knowledge of Indian philosophy isn't
actually worth attaching the word knowledge
to, other than having read a few pieces by
Isherwood on the subject, but some things
need simply to be felt...

Re: Re. EMANATE
you'll like this, (maybe not a lot) but you'll like it - there was an English monk, a Scottish monk and an Irish monk being tempted by the Devil - old Satan flew them up above the ocean.
"There is nothing precious you can conceal from me!!! Said he.
And the Scottish priest said "Damn u back to hell - find this" and threw a coin from his purse into the sea. Down went the Devil and quick as a flash he brought it back sending the monk from Melrose to hell.
The English monk seeing this thought quickly - "I value the most largest pearl in the biggest oyster in the deepest part of the deep blue ocean" - down went Old Nick quick as a flash in a smoke of sulphur. And he brought it back a pearl the size of your fist!!!
And the English monk was sent to Hell.
Seeing this and his friends being damned, the Irish monk felt terribly sad and a little tear fell from his eye falling into the billowing waves below. And watching it fall all of a sudden
St.Paddy laughed (for it was he) and said "that tear was the most precious thing I had so find that ya feckin' gobshite "
And with that sent Satan back to Hell!!!

Here I inhaled gratefully
because of what I experience
while reading this.
Crisp and fresh, winds
through my being, allowing me
to feel every sensational swipe
with my fingertips, and the
colours..yes the peaceful kind
I know to get carried away, but
you're in'joyed
-Howlings
