I Can't Go Back Home?
The home I thought I had is really not one at all
and makes me wonder if I can ever go back
where are the candidates who don't
relish wallowing in the mud
her campaign now sporting a chair who was
a lobbyist for global arms sellers
another operative a henchman for the GMO world
the daughter has learned the tricks of the trade
and hubby is a master of the game
I remember Bill running back to Arkansas to execute Rick Ray Rector
and bad mouthing Jesse Jackson for an untrue endorsement
for following Dick Morris down the road of triangulation
and the Draconian welfare reform
So she raised money like it was water in 2008
and her followers called Obama not really black
check out what she is doing now
wrapping herself in the Obama presidency
calling the country of Iran an enemy
even criticizing a rivals's plan for universal health care
and bad mouthing college for all
but the ultimate hypocrisy is her support for campaign finance reform
is it to cover everyone except herself?
Is combat just part of her DNA?
the people I once thought of as friends
so enamoured of the woman
and leave me to the stark realization
this party isn't my home

Really sucks when those I expect better from don't deliver. Makes me wonder if I'm desperate to believe in the best in potential leaders or if I'm just not in touch with my inner cynic enough to see the signs before I get blindsided

Yes those question do arise---in my case I have tiny morsels of hope because there are some more local office holders not tainted, in fact one of them is a neighbor. I am of the view that at the federal level is where the most atrocious examples can be found, with of course exceptions like a governor in Michigan, or some of the southern states, who make up reasons to deny early voting.
