Temperamental
A look of gentle amusement will work
Far better than a frown from time to time,
Though frowning has its place, as does a smirk:
To chide her gently when she won’t incline
As fast as he might wish; why should a slap
Cause her to hasten at all or adjust
Her posture in a way that will distract
Him rather less than anyone would trust
A man to do when greeted by the thought
That she is his and will do as he’ll choose
And not resist, because she has been caught
Keenly aware that she is to amuse
Him well and never be temp'ramental
In the hope he’ll be harsh and, yet, so gentle?
