Keep going man - the more you do these the easier it becomes - I use a programme called 'Verse Perfect' when I write Haikus it gives a line by line total of dem pesky 5 - 7 - 5's dem sillybulls I find using this programme helps me to write them more quickly :-)

The thing is, I just wrote these as a personal joke. I feel like I can barely complete a thought in 17 syllable, let alone express an emotion. I realize others enjoy writing Haikus, but my thought process is very complex and I need more space and flexibility to say what I need to say. My inspirations to write are very strong and when I feel a poem screaming it's way out of my heart, there's no way that feeling will be satisfied in 3 lines. I write poetry to express my emotions need to do more than paint a still life picture in black and white. I know that those who enjoy writing Haikus are going to say I can do all that in 17 syllables, but it's just not enough for me. I will not feel fulfilled and I am certain I will be misunderstood. I need to be understood. Perhaps I'm too preachy, but I have been misinterpreted often enough that I would rather drive nails in the lid of a poem than leave it open to interpretation. Like if I could write a Haiku to say what I just said, I would have. I was actually planning to only respond to commenters with more Haikus and as we can see, I blew that on the first try...

I liked this JJ! Not sure why you said you wrote it as a joke. I too feel like I can't gather my thoughts and transferred them in 17 syllables. I had to challenge myself in a couple of comps today. Haikus and I don't really get along.
