now I know why we're broken
sick of your toddler tendencies
and her looming motherly excuses
as if you accidentally broke fine china
and not your daughter's heart
sick of standing strong like a tree
a small, weak tree... swaying in the storm
expected to bend and yield but never break
never fight back against the howling wind
your mouth is the violent storm
sending rain and hail in your putrid breath
you spat upon every effort of love
and turned away heartless at her tears
and I've wondered why we can't all be together
because of your attitude and mama's apathy
we remain scattered like lost dreams
drifting in the Underworld gone forever
and her looming motherly excuses
as if you accidentally broke fine china
and not your daughter's heart
sick of standing strong like a tree
a small, weak tree... swaying in the storm
expected to bend and yield but never break
never fight back against the howling wind
your mouth is the violent storm
sending rain and hail in your putrid breath
you spat upon every effort of love
and turned away heartless at her tears
and I've wondered why we can't all be together
because of your attitude and mama's apathy
we remain scattered like lost dreams
drifting in the Underworld gone forever
