Red Squiggly Line
When I want to type the world colour
You pop-in right there
And make me wonder..
You laboured to get my spellings right
and red line, you appeared again!
The way you curve around each word
It is funny, heck, quite humourous
Ah! I see you again, instantaneous
But you see when I need to beautify a line
I usually,
accessorise, brutalise, acclimatise.
You appear jolly well
You don't miss-out on a single word
You make be wonder
Have I passed school in the correct manner?
reading catalogues of coloured books
catalysed by textbook-flavours
How can you not know
an aeroplane is still a thing?
Red squiggly line
I do you no favour
By pointing out your mistaken presence
You are the centre to most literature
I respect your appearance
But I suggest you exercise caution
I will do you the honour
Of correcting my grammar
Hopefully you will oblige
And not correct me when I right?
(this is really in response to the irritating spell-corrections I have to make on spelling that ARE CORRECT. The ones in italics are the words)

Some teachers have an unfair bias towards the American vernacular and don't recognize correct spellings originating in the Mother Country.. This is very clever work Aarti. These instructors should not have the final word.
It's not the teachers really, it is the internet. But can't blame anyone. Most of what's in the internet including the internet itself is an American product. :)

When I moved from America to England I caught hell over spelling. Subsequently, when I moved from England back to America I caught hell over spelling. This is well conveyed.

I am sure it is a tough transition. I have only learnt the British way of reading and writing since I am an Indian, but a lot of mainstream media, culture, television have been influenced by America..so it gets complicated.
