SILENCE

Its the devil who holds us back
The masters they say
But Is it any different than the way
My people treat me today
Than when they took trees
And decorated them with slaves
Yet they claim that they paved
The golden way
For our skin color today
Portraying themselves
As the knight in shining armour
That put an end to that racist karma
Yet the drama we still live
Over and over again
From educated folks
Who refuse to use the ink in their pens
But then pretend
Like they need to be emancipated again
When they mute thier own voice
By their freedom of choice
With the government as proof
That we tighten the knots
To our own noose
Feeling for freedom
Hoping to find
The thumb on that blank paper
When we must have voted blind
And the picket lines
That once defined
That fight for freedom
From behind that chalk line
Has simply been darkened
By our own imprisoned minds
