She wore midnight
over her bones
and had
constellations
for eyes.
I'd gaze at her in awe
As her dark skin
lit up the world
about her
Head held high,
she never once
apologized
for the galaxies
resonating
beneath her flesh
Daughter of Africa

My goddess Nyx
