Grandmother

When I am really low and sad, I like to remember my grandmothers who have suddenly become my strength today. In the south indian state of karnataka, grandmothers are called ajji (plural ajjis)

One of my grandma's passed away even before I was born and one died when I was 3

AJJI
Dearest Ajjis,

My darling grannies
why is heaven so far?
My dearest mother of mother's
Please take me in your arms?

My sweetest granny
Your granddaughter needs your love and smile
But you ran away? You left her to win her fights

Oh beautiful grandma
Your hearts are pure
No gold can hold

You need to get a yard stick
You need to scold you grandchild
But why are you not here?

your granddaughter approaches death near?
Can you light a lamp in your direction
For your granddaughter to follow

Maybe the heavens doors are kind enough
To let this miscreant an allow
Painless death. My darling ajjis
Just one shot to be close to you

my arms are wide open. I just need to hug you
And my problems will all be over

You're the best psychologist in town ajji
Why did you have to leave your family?
I love you so much. I miss you only when I am in pain
Cause I know you wouldn't want for me to face the pain

My grandmothers are my strongest will
I may not know them. They may have gone before my birth
But I know they will Meet me soon.
Sooner than most, I hope to.
