Missing Him
nothing will ever be the same
my stepson has moved on
best friend and confidant
partner in crime
life of all parties
I feel left behind
while he spreads his wings
flying into his future
the fates have already cast mine
depression setting in
knowing he's really gone
he visits but it's not the same
seeing him every morning
his smile was the sun
on my darkest days
reaching out
to who anyone who will listen
when will this pain abate?
in love with his soul and infectious laugh
he is the pop in a coke a cola
the tenderness and understanding
when there is none to be found
I miss him no one quite like him
uniquely beautiful, fearless and kind

Even though they leave the nest in their hopes to find what life has to offer them, they will always need us. Forever. Beautiful emotions here. <3

What a beautiful and loving mom you are sweetheart. This made me cry because I know it, my son will leave the nest too. He's all you described in your stepson.
The lessons and love you have given him will help him to grow and succeed further. You will be so proud as I'm sure he is of you ; )

That's awesome that you have such a close, loving bond with a stepson :) I love my own stepmom like that...and she's not even married to my dad anymore!

"seeing him every morning
his smile was the sun
on my darkest days"
~I broke into shiny eyes about here ;(..
Anyone that brings this kind of tribute to your pen must be wonderful, ladyluvs..
*hugs 'n' hand squeezes to your sad moods..
I pounce fer smiles ~~>store that away & remember in the down moments.
completely relate to the feelings of almost 'being left behind', when loved ones move forward in life.
bonds made do not unbind tho & this is a beautiful ache.. your heart? *solid shine!
loves you sweet Brenda..

I think your loss will fade, Crim. You have gained a proud, independent stepson who will still love you, no matter what. Possibly even more for your having been supportive and encouraging, giving him the strength to get by on his own.
"while he spreads his wings
flying into his future
the fates have already cast mine"
I think the fates will be kind, possibly change their mind. A great stepmother and friend is worthy of mercy and an exception might be made. I believe you still have wings of your own. I can see it in your work.
"reaching out
to who anyone who will listen
when will this pain abate?"
Please take comfort in knowing that the pain does eventually fade. You have friends who will listen and offer comfort. Your stepson's visits will eventually be a cause for joy, not a reminder of what you miss. It will never be quite the same but you'll see his growing strength, wisdom and gratitude to you.
I love this Crim. You're a wonderful stepmother and friend!

Re. Missing Him
Sweet Crim! You have done your part of making him the young man he is today. I'm sure when I have to let my two leave the nest I will feel the same. It's just a mother instinct not wanting our babies ever feel pain or dispair. I'm almost positive he will make you proud! 💕Sissy

Brenda, I am so sorry for your
pain so well conveyed by gift given.
We all put so much of ourselves into our children. We give them all that we are; willing to do for them like no others. We see ourselves in them: the good and the bad. Memories of special moments spent. Those night spent lovingly caring for them when they were
sick. So much time and love spent;
every bit worth it. I feel your pain and I assure you it will pass.
He will provided you with many
new moments to be proud.
I am sure you will always have his
love and friendship. Best wishes to
you; sweet and loving mother.

this is beautiful and tender, your love for him. Letting go of him is an act of love itself, despite the pain. And I am sure you want the world for him. I am sorry to hear it has given you some depression, but hopefully that will subside in place of a growing relationship with him that will be new at the same time. Touching poem, Crim.

"he is the pop in a coke a cola"
I think this is the central theme of your poetry. Your love for your step son, I must say, is unprecedented. When you open a bottle of coke, and if you do not hear the pop, you get suspicious- a sign of a weak, soda-less, enervated drink. I am sure you feel the same way now that he is living his life.
