While you are
Young enough
To enjoy
Its rewards
To be a wise
Old man
Is less

Like a book
The older
you get
the more
you find
pages stuck

the more

Re. wisdom
Second to last line has a typo. The passage of time is often a topic for fascinating compositions. Well worth pondering.

thank you for reading and commenting - thanks for the heads up on the typo (now fixed)
it's amazing how we can miss typos like that - maybe too close to the writing? Anyway thanks for spotting :-)

Re: Re. wisdom
No problem. I taught at the middle school level for 5 years while working on a masters degree. It was always easier to edit other people's work then to check my own.

Well, this explains my life and why I feel like an old fool! I had it all figured out when I was a teenager and everyone sought my advice. Now I'm a lonely old man and I can't remember who I am... I also can't remember how my pages got stuck together but maybe it's better that way...

lol I read your wisdom on a regular basis - aint life a conundrum :p
wisdom is like a baseball bat - sooner or later you will feel the dull thud of it hitting you on the back of the head - you will then sit back in your comfiest of chairs and feel all smug

Haha I aspire to be an old fool, and hopefully wise sometime in between then and now. It's better to be a has-been than a never-been. haha I consider you a wise man and enjoy reading your nuggets of perception and wisdom.

you'd be amazed at the number of people who see me as an old fool, but then only an old fool would attempt to change their thinking :-)

thank you for reading and commenting - so glad you enjoyed it :-)
I believe in old souls as I matured very early as a result of childhood experiences. I too find older people than me more interesting :-)
