The Fortune Tale
Young girls years
So pretty
Spent nights
Rolling on river banks
And fields of grass
Country boy between
Her thighs.
A look at the diamond lit
World above
Same light that filled
Those hot nights
Light that fueled dreams
Of a vast future
She sighs.
A baby faced 6 foot
Young man
Her light now
Her son
Wonders what he knows
Of loving and the air underneath
Those skies.
So pretty
Spent nights
Rolling on river banks
And fields of grass
Country boy between
Her thighs.
A look at the diamond lit
World above
Same light that filled
Those hot nights
Light that fueled dreams
Of a vast future
She sighs.
A baby faced 6 foot
Young man
Her light now
Her son
Wonders what he knows
Of loving and the air underneath
Those skies.

Ahhh . . . He knows . . . Same as you did, except he is the pumper not the receiver . . .

There's nothing like laying back and looking at the stars and moon on a cool night in the country! Everything is clearer in our neck of the woods!! Absolutely beautiful Jenn! 💕Sissy

Loved this Jennifer! The memories of a grown woman for her more carefree days. Now she has a son to consider, and can't help but wonder how he's faring. I really like the inventive structure and the rhyming words between the stanzas. Fine work!

It makes me and probably more of us wonder what our parents think about us. Kind of disconcerting but written in a lovely way.

Your reflective poem painted a pastoral paradise where love blossomed and life was born. This poem holds a special place in my heart. I too lived in the country way back when. You cast your spell on me with this lyrical magic. ;-)
