...
when night parts her legs
it may be too much for a mortal to bear
for night will confess the meaning of mystery
and you will become that
it doesn't matter where you were born,
who you loved or who loved you back
night will tell you things that will splay
your mind and heal the earthly heart
the hush of her cleansing breath on your
flesh, will sigh you into rebirth
Mary will feel your forehead and
teach you how to sustain yourself
Poe will try to murder you, but he is
old now and his powers are empty.
Alice will envy you
A radiant serenity overcomes everything
you are and will be
Dawn aches for your love, but she is doomed
to forget that once you two begin making love
you will vanish, only your sleepy-vanilla
scent will be left on her golden hands

"A radiant serenity overcomes everything you are and will be" my fave line, i love the night, it's mystery, quietness and energy. however nyctophobia is a problem for many... a nocturnal nugget, superstar...

Love the references to Mary... to Poe... to Alice. Night has played witness to them all and still is as powerful as ever over all. And Dawn aching for love is just too precious, in such a foredoomed manner.
I loved the dark manner to which this entire piece is attributed...something almost antithetical about it in nature that just draws you in. Very well written piece. Much enjoyed.
