Society's Favorite Phrase
Most words are lies
because we all wear a mask
How are you? is a formality
Lost its meaning in society
Slap a smile on your face
Never share how you really are
The correct answer is fine
I’m fine
Always fine
Inside some are falling apart
But they hide behind words like I’m alright
Tears are right behind their eyes
Wanting to rush from their tear ducts
Full of pain and heartache
The weight of the world crushing their souls
Yet they keep quite and utter society's favorite phrase

Thank you, you touch on something that I have thought about a lot and I never imagined I would read, your poem inspired my user name and I am fine, I think
I'm glad that you can relate to what I wrote. I too think about this a lot and it is nice that someone else notices this trend in society.
