Primal Animal
I drove on down the coast today
At a hundred miles per
To see if I’d forget the night
The night I’d spent with her
I knew it was a huge mistake
Right from the ringing phone
But like Pavlov’s dog and ringing bells
I was racing to her home
Oh, she calls me up say once a month
Or even once a year
When I’ve had time to steel myself
Against the words she says
But her voice is smooth as her silky lips
And my steel just melts away
Oh, my steel just melts away
Now I’m speeding down the coast again
And trying to forget
That I’ve been used again by her
And that I am just her pet
My dignity and pride are hurt
But the truth is hard for me to say
That I love it all no matter what
And I wait for her to call me out
So I can run her way
Oh she calls me up say once a month
Or even once a year
And I just go out running
And my pride just disappears
Yeah my pride just disappears
At a hundred miles per
To see if I’d forget the night
The night I’d spent with her
I knew it was a huge mistake
Right from the ringing phone
But like Pavlov’s dog and ringing bells
I was racing to her home
Oh, she calls me up say once a month
Or even once a year
When I’ve had time to steel myself
Against the words she says
But her voice is smooth as her silky lips
And my steel just melts away
Oh, my steel just melts away
Now I’m speeding down the coast again
And trying to forget
That I’ve been used again by her
And that I am just her pet
My dignity and pride are hurt
But the truth is hard for me to say
That I love it all no matter what
And I wait for her to call me out
So I can run her way
Oh she calls me up say once a month
Or even once a year
And I just go out running
And my pride just disappears
Yeah my pride just disappears
