Burdenless (Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim, Lydia)
I have never been the strongest sword arm,
But when my strength falters she shields me from harm,
Am I truly the conniving creature haunting stories around the campfire,
For she throws her arms around me even when they whisper "vampire",
Sworn to my service yet not the bond we share,
A treasure that needs not to be stolen yet with rewards beyond compare,
To traverse the world and experience its wonders,
Was worth more to me than all of the gold I could plunder,
Carrying these burdens of wealth and loneliness,
Seemed all too easy before realizing I was lost in the wilderness,
Your loyalty led you to Dragonreach's hall,
But loved paved our intertwining travels from Markarth to Morthal,
"Burdens are supposed to be shared," I incessantly tell her,
She effortlessly picks me up and laughs regardless of many iron daggers I leave in her pack to molder,
I assure you the only way to see Skryim is from her shoulders
