The concept of spare change or a spare cigarette is lost on me - It suggests that I carry around cigarettes and cash that I don't need or want - its a bit like the old joke a down and out says " can you give me 50 pence for a cup of coffee" and you reply "here's a pound, get me one as well"

there is menace in this poem I can feel it :-)

it's just that I find it ironic
how uncomfortable they feel,
the comfortably off...

Reminds me of the homeless and how many people would rather avert their gaze and ignore poverty, rather than be a decent human being and give someone a smoke or spare change in their pocket. (Though the last person I denied a cigarette to called me a white cunt. Left me satisfied I didn't part with my stash)
