Your Favorite Cigarette
Deadly, toxic, poison, we were all of the above
Hating each other religiously under a blackened veil of love
You had it in your head; you needed to get away
But with every kiss I touched you with, I begged you to stay
And you listened reluctantly, and for that, it's your fault
That we spent our nights making love to the other's verbal assault
And we believed it was love for what else could it be?
And it was only when our eyes were closed that we acted peacefully.
Because you were a recovering addict,
and I was your favorite cigarette
that you just refused to smoke.
And I think as you tried to fix yourself,
you dropped me, and I broke.
