POEMS AND SHORT STORIES
Poet Introduction
A long time ago, in a land far from here, lived a princess with a past and a future not so clear
8/7/15
But we were completely ignorant;
We had no idea
That our flame,
Which burned bright to the tune
Of a chiliad of hot hues,
Was consuming itself
For life.
Did you know fires could do that?
We had no idea
That our flame,
Which burned bright to the tune
Of a chiliad of hot hues,
Was consuming itself
For life.
Did you know fires could do that?

Polysemy
I think we both enjoy the comfort of shade,
As we hide behind the allegories and euphemisms
That act as an umbrella,
Protecting us from the other's tears.
We've developed a love of polysemy
That we thoroughly act upon
With our miscellaneous texts and phone calls and facial expressions.
We don't enjoy real conversation about real mundane topics.
We don't enjoy discussing things that truly matter.
It takes an effort that I can't give and you, for some reason, don't want to.
As we hide behind the allegories and euphemisms
That act as an umbrella,
Protecting us from the other's tears.
We've developed a love of polysemy

With our miscellaneous texts and phone calls and facial expressions.

Twitterpated, though whom do my affections seek?
But it is true that romance is a benevolent witch,
Casting spells that make us seem weak,
Though only to the point where we know
That instead of holding us back,
Our passions and strengths grow.

She didn't know
She didn’t know that when she said
“Someday, I’m going to be someone...”
There was a word missing:
“...insignificant”.

Your Favorite Cigarette
Deadly, toxic, poison, we were all of the above
Hating each other religiously under a blackened veil of love
You had it in your head; you needed to get away
But with every kiss I touched you with, I begged you to stay
And you listened reluctantly, and for that, it's your fault
That we spent our nights making love to the other's verbal assault
And we believed it was love for what else could it be?
And it was only when our eyes were closed that we acted peacefully.
Because you were a recovering addict,
and I was...

Stitch Up Your Soul
You use blue thread to match the iris of your eyes
Sew as close to the edge to close up your lies
Hope no one notices you pulling at the string
Pull you under your throne, your reign as king
Where you wielded swords as powerful as a needle or pin
And hung your enemies with fibers woven too thin
You use black thread to fix a scar on your leg
Caused when villagers riot, rebel, and beg
Your mercy is as legendary as your craft with your hands
Falsely advertising yourself to far away lands
You hide your harm so they think you are strong
And...

Le Nuvole Bianche (or the White Cloud)
Look up there. Can't you see?
The sky is full of wonders and mysteries
Full of escape and places we all want to go
Where the world disappears into the unknown
And we all lie down and falter into our demise
As we look up to the heavens, to the baby blue skies
Of this earth we inhabit that we ruin with sin
And sweat those sins off our backs with a devilish grin
Where we lie and we cheat as we love and we lose
And the world returns with kicks and we scar where we bruise
But I don't want to live in a world full of hate
Where our futures are...

Counting the Stars
Your eyes watch the night as it grows darker and calls
As you kindle the fire that makes your humanity fall
Counting the stars up to numbers you could not dream to handle
You didn't see them flicker and die like a dollar store candle
Your hands reach higher than the pitch black space
But not high enough to touch God by the face
And your feet can walk on water, can wear the clouds as shoes
But you're careful not to fall and let your celestial body bruise
One slip, you're out and this game of Life is dead
At least you don't let the power to your head
Your...
