it was most definitely
a street, covered in tar, with lines painted
a yield signal at the end
it had a curb
and a pavement
to all extents, it was a street

<---For some unknown, unreasonable
purpose of fate and with out
explanation
the street has a name sign
[as streets do]
and for some unknown, unreasonable
purpose of fate
the sign called
the street
a lane

<---For Fuck Sakes I have to exclaim
why can't the street, be a street
and the lane, just a lane
why does Johannesburg question your name
or fail to let you
just, be you
even if
you're a street with no name?
