quartz

I waited for you like a stone
just hoping to get tossed
I'll likely stay here undisturbed
until I grow some moss

I longed for you to pick me up
so I could feel your touch
I knew I'd soon be cast aside
but I don't ask for much

I know that I'm a fool to think
that I'd again be found
I'd probably never catch your eye
from all the rocks around

I'm just another piece of quartz
atop a giant mound
But all I really have is time
and hopes that I'll be found
