I had to read this and re-read this, Granite, luv. :-* I'll probably read it several more times. I am fond of this concept in a purely theoretical way (I fear I may be far too anal retentive, alas, for much more than that); I find it curious, though, this notion of doing things at your own sacrifice solely to remain at odds with a program created by others.

Individualism is excellent and not allowing others to confine you, I can understand. I just keep having this image in my head of you being contrary in, oh the airport let's say on vacation and your poor wife aggravated because you've chosen That moment to be contrary... :-p I could see myself wanting to hiss in exasperation at you 'twere I in that situation. ;-D

It made me wonder if she'd ever felt that way. :-*

I would say my wife becomes exasperated at me for more domestic issues.  Like not closing the door fully of the medicine chest, stuff like that.

My contrarian ways are more about setting a personal tone.  They make no sense to others but to me, it is crystal clear.  I don't expect others to follow my path,  in fact, I wish they would find their own success and leave my space uncrowded.  Issues issues ...
