Suki Tawdry
This is inspired by Bobby Darin's
hit song "Mack the Knife"
https:www.youtube.com/watch?v=SEIIHMWkXEU
"Oh the shark has..."
Suki Tawdry terrified
Mackie's voice following her
His song slicing the air like a razor
The last tune a ho like her might ever hear
"...such sharp teeth, dear..."
She does her sweet best
Every single fucking day
Trying to be a good earner
A woman cared for
"...but he keeps them..."
Suki ducks in a doorway
Turns out to be locked
She reaches into her purse
Finds her own blade
"...out of sight..."

This was the No 1 song the year I was born. It's nice to know some people still listen to that era.

It's one of my favorite songs. I listened to it so many times just enjoying Darin's smooth singing and the catchy beat. But I began to pay more careful attention and realized how sinister it is. It comes from Bertoldt Brecht's "Three Penny Opera" and is about MackHeath, a killer pimp. Suki Tawdry is one of his "hos". I wanted to offer Suki a chance to turn the tables. Not sure if she managed.... Thanks Ahavati!

I hope you enjoyed it Katja. There's also a version on Youtube sung by Kevin Spacey, who played Darin in the film bio. Fun to check out.

Thanks Jackie. "Mack the Knife" is even spookier. Listening to the lyrics gives me a chill. "Scarlet billows start to spread..."

Mack the Knife. . .now there's a blast from the past. . .Personally I love Lyle Lovette's version (from Quiz Show). . .*sigh*. . .this made my heart sing. . .and the poem, just brilliant. Love the lyrical incorporation; it brought the piece together harmoniously. . .xoxo, Devlin;)

Re-envision the classics! The concepts, the characters, the pieces that are brought to life, can be adapted so that said life grows and expands. It's far more than a game, to play around with re-ordering lore. It's a finishing touch on our own perspective reactions, a re-printing of our maps. You choose from some powerful sources that run deep friend!
