(I posted this under the NightSisters competition but I want some honest feedback)
Dark Angel
Ark Angel
I’m a demon undisguised
These stupid petty rats with wings should bow when I fly by
No facade of white and silver
Will mask my scarlet wings,
I fly at night, my eyes alight
with dreams of terrible things
Dark Angel
Ark Angel
A coven of shadowy fiends
Chaos is my element
Its better than it seems
When I’m around
things are twisted and cracked
with madness in between
Dark Angel
Ark Angel
Some may disagree
They call me fallen angel
But soon you will see
I’m not falling I’m rising
I will raze the good I see

on my imperial scarlet wings
Striking nightmares and fears
in the hearts of the brave

A demon undisguised
On scarlet wings of the wicked, I fly

Oh, I do love this poem! I’ve actually written quite a few like this myself in the past… I like your take on a dark angel, demoness of chaos kind of thing. It is just epic and awesomely penned! The lines that read:
“No facade of white and silver
Will mask my scarlet wings,
I fly at night, my eyes alight
with dreams of terrible things”
They really sing sweetly to me, and remind me a bit of how I’ve written of my own darker side (we all have one, after all and they can be very interesting to write about). These are powerful words you write here, filled with fire, passion, and a pride that is not unwarranted in the least. The choice to use the term Ark Angel, I find particularly inventive and interesting since it is different from the usual term “Archangel” and almost alludes to the angels said to preside over the Ark of the Covenant in many of the legends surrounding it. Since angels in all of the most ancient legends always seem to have a fiery, almost demonic side to them as well as a light, angelic side (both light and dark angels being of the warrior variety as much as the messenger variety)… who is to say that an angel of the Ark would not also be a chaotic demon of destruction! Me, I have always been fascinated by such things, and this poem of yours is amazing for its' capacity for making people think and wonder on such matters. All the mark of a great poetess, when you can not just draw in a reader but make them speculate and question various facets of the worlds you create through your poetry! Yet another masterpiece of yours… you are off to a strong start here on DUP, and are certainly already shaping up to be one of my favorite poetesses when it comes to your choices of subject matter and creativity of style. Brilliant work, truly! Keep it coming, dear Scarlett. :)
