Awwww. :( I completely understand this feeling of complete and utter helplessness, desperation to take the pain away, longing to heal and make life easier for the person in anguish. Oh, how it hurts so bad! Though simply being there with a caring ear and heart goes a long way, sometimes it doesn't feel like enough, and accepting that it is can be difficult sometimes. But it's all you can do. Heartbreaking write. I relate.
