God's a Serial Killer
Not long ago they would have burned me at the stake
for ever breathing this out loud
but now our modern world is civilised,
we have the internet and cable television
yet millions never get to watch
and die from malnutrition every year
So God's a serial killer ~ it's straight from the hip
but I can no longer defend Him or deny
the evidence is incontrovertible
earthquakes, tsunami, famine, disease and drought
That's not us - it's all down to Him
Wish I could jump up in the sky
grab God by the throat
shake him, tell him stop
right now
make him mend his evil ways
And don't give me that story
there's a secret master plan
mysterious purposes unfolding
known only to Him.
Hell, I wont buy it
not from mister undeserving of the capital H
When you ask 'em,
the fat bellied priests
at holy customer service
prostrated in their scary pitch black robes
Hey, guys,
what about that mudslide???
They just smile a telling smile
and raise eyes skywards
quoting chapter and verse
in cahoots with the coffin-maker
although everyone knows
it's no use blaming
the Devil

Inspired! The personification of God as a serial killer is excellent. I always feel a giddy thrill whenever I happen across another furious atheist...

Usually these kind of poems are baseless and have no point to make. Yours however is different,your opinion is respectable because instead of just shouting and cursing, yours has both an emotional honesty as well as examples

Religious or atheist, it doesn't matter to me, as long as what they say has a basis on truth and doesn't feel like propaganda, I can accept it,respect it, or even embrace it.

Usually Athiests Poems are pointless rants. Even though I dont agree, I find humor in the diffrences I see here between you and me. Excellent poem.

its funny how someone who appears to be an atheist can actually blame God for all the bad things which we just have to endure....God i think has nothing to do with all this. To me his attitude is justified. I mean we've all been told that all he wants from us is our love, and obviously if he was always there with us or if his presence, the presence of a God was too obvious in our daily lives, then we would be obliged to love him i think. And love, like any human emotions is a choice...

I always thought an Atheist was a non believer?
Seems the poem states a profound belief and anger towards a situation where such an omnipotent being would allow such devastation.
I liked the piece. I feel that the poet has discerned a spirit, as we biblically are instructed to do.
