Sleeping September Sunrise
Sleeping
in the chilled arms
of wishful stares,
fantasy gazing longingly
into deep
lonely eyes.
Whispering fingers
that could pull the sunlight
from the noonday sky
then squeeze it into a silver bowl
and pour out empty shadows
while citrus tears bleed
down hollow cheeks
like shimmering fire.
September fluctuations
surround your sins
and scratch like sand
across your
Sunday sunrise.
