broken bitter blue
fingers frozen
cold as teeth
portioned hits of pain
counted on crumbling digits
gushing gouged gorged
ghosts of loss
the fleeting twinkle
of touching the sun
singed by saline snivels
cupping caressing curing
stroking an unsettling stump
grazing on grit
the love and loyalty
of a solitary hand
craves comfort
soliciting softly
and in vain
a brief brush
from its missing match

Was considering removing the first lines of each stanza.
Originally wrote them as a sort of guide, but I may have overdosed on alliteration.
