The Raven, Part 2
I hear her licking on the door
And fingering the lock
She's come from some nocturnal shore
Just as midnight stills the clock
Her name appears in ancient lore
Now too seldom fully read
She once was my lost Lenore
Now she's risen from the dead
The raven shrieks "Get lost you whore!
We sure as fuck don't need you here!"
She tells him not to be a bore
Or cultivate my neurotic fear
Her words make my spirit soar
And blast that hellish bird
His carcass dropping to the floor
Now will nevermore be heard.
And fingering the lock
She's come from some nocturnal shore
Just as midnight stills the clock
Her name appears in ancient lore
Now too seldom fully read
She once was my lost Lenore
Now she's risen from the dead
The raven shrieks "Get lost you whore!
We sure as fuck don't need you here!"
She tells him not to be a bore
Or cultivate my neurotic fear
Her words make my spirit soar
And blast that hellish bird
His carcass dropping to the floor
Now will nevermore be heard.

Thanks, Minerva. Now Lenore's here by my side, whispering "Forevermore!" I wish.

Thank you, Katja. I love gothic imagery and atmosphere. Crumbling castles, haunted sitting rooms, graveyards. I wallow in them!

Thanks, Zazzles. Maybe I'll come up with a Part 3. "The Raven's Revenge." Then I'll really push my luck.

even the fearsome raven can't keep the beautiful lady in her crypt. it's a great twist of several elements of Poe...

Poe's still my favorite. He just might have taken himself a little too seriously. Come to think of it he did come up with some twisted humor now and then. "Never Bet the Devil Your Head."
