Thanks for the Memories

the boys in town would always chase her
come to accept that she would never be mine
but the stars aligned, her mood just right
took that chance to ask her to dance

the summer air blew against our skin
as I held out my hand she grabbed hold
we were young with the world ahead of us
if I only knew then what I do now
I would of savored the moment

I had many problems that weakened me
she had problems that made her cry
we were each other rock
though the hard and worse of times
that’s how I knew it was love

I needed her more than words could ever say
when there were no words we just laid
her head on my chest as the day passed
waking up to her beautiful face

the hands of time took its toll
she got sick, I got horribly depressed
taking my anger out on her to release my frustration
felt like I was becoming part of her problems

with tears down her face, she says…
"I can’t keep playing these games
you will always be my heart, but I have to go
thanks for the memories"
