Excited Puppy

 
My inner puppy waits

panting, tail wagging

for you to walk through the door

to come back to me

to stroke my ego

and make me feel worthy

and affirm me.


Too much time passes....

you don't appear,

my spirit drops

my heart wimpers.

What did I do wrong?


Then my inner master

comes up to me and says,

"Stroke your own ego!

You don't need him to do that for you!

You come from a lineage of wolves....

they take care of themselves

and they never need others to affirm

that they are wolves.  

Stand in your truth.

Be fierce without needing to be told that you are."
