Wake Up Call
My lover's voice in the distance
Carried on moonlight rays
Exhorting me to rise
I claw through the earth
Break through the ice-encrusted surface
Cross my corner of consecrated ground
Ignore the granite sculpture marking the general population
Saints and angels that will have nothing to do with me
I reach the edge of the forest
Make my way through the ancient trees to the pond
My lover's face floats within
Her eyes pools of darkness
Her complexion pale and gleaming as the moon above
Still a knockout after all these years...
Carried on moonlight rays
Exhorting me to rise
I claw through the earth
Break through the ice-encrusted surface
Cross my corner of consecrated ground
Ignore the granite sculpture marking the general population
Saints and angels that will have nothing to do with me
I reach the edge of the forest
Make my way through the ancient trees to the pond
My lover's face floats within
Her eyes pools of darkness
Her complexion pale and gleaming as the moon above
Still a knockout after all these years...

This is vampiric, Scot, inspired by a 1961 Italian vampire flick called "Black Sunday." Highly recommended, and can probably be found on Youtube.

And her words carry on a midnight clear
To eliminate my doubt and fear.

I just saw something float by my window. But really you tell it so well...the eerie trees...the meandering path to the pond. Great imagery. Good read Crowfly.

Thanks, Grace. I'm glad you enjoyed the images. I love graveyards and tangled forests, ponds rippling in the moonlight. Not too many around where I live, unfortunately.

Thanks, John. It may be a little too slick, a punch line in an otherwise straightforward piece of Gothic.
