I wish it could be Christmas every day( Peace and Plenty for all!)

"For the bail outs
you have our sincere thanks".
" the only bail outs
we won't do
is saving all
the food banks".

While the rich are enjoying Christmas
living high on the hog
Out on the street
there's a man in a sheet
tryin' to keep warm with his dog.

The Rich are gettin' richer
while the poor stay poor.
They say it's just The Way Things Are
aye, when profit's in the drivin' seat
an 1 Million folk in Britain
are strugglin' to eat!

They say the poor've been
irresponsible
played hard and fast with the cash
but when it happens to the bankers
they get bonuses
and a rush to defend them,
apologetics rain down in a flash.

It's not so hard to see
hypocrisy
when it's starin you in the face
All I want for Christmas
is a better deal than this,
for the human race.

"Money makes the world go round"
Also makes the Haves and Have Not
Some have second homes and
second cars
while others work second jobs
just to keep
the little they've got.

It's crazy the mismatch.
A buildin' sits empty
while out front,
a person with no where to stay
when you put things before people
decisions lack all
humanity.

And the churches are little better
for all that it's worth
They promise the Kingdom of Heaven
but they're happy to keep
Hell on Earth.

We're told to study, strive
our whole lives for coins and bits of paper
maybe just have a think
consider this and do me a wee favour
Would you rather have a society
encouraging selfishness and greed?
or do you wish for something more
where everyone could have all
they need?

Maybe one day
the peace and plenty
of Christmas day
can be the normal state
of things.

they'll be no homeless
they'll all have some
place to stay
why did we do things
so wrong
for so long
that's what
all the people
will say

and everyone
will
'profit'
but
no one 'll have to pay!
