Why Are Your Eyes So Dark?
Why are your eyes so dark?
What troubles your mind?
What makes you sink, and sputter, and fall?
Why has this light gone out?
What put out the flame?
What is it that you are dying for?
Is it because he ran away,
And stole your breath?
His silhouette is walking out the door
I wish I knew why it took you so long
So long to realize he's gone!
Only 12 hours left
Till we say goodbye
I'm holding an hourglass, your face is cry
Why did we go this far
To have it all end?
How come we chose to love like it was pretend?
Is it because he ran away,

Is she still yearning her last lover ... And now the current is leaving too? I just need clarity on that point.

Thanks for your response, @LobodeSanPedro! Ultimately, I think it is up to the listener to decide this matter, as it is left slightly ambiguous on purpose, but when I was writing it, I had in mind only one lover who continuously reappeared in memories and dreams as a ghostly "silhouette" leaving the room. But the narrator I think is the lonely and deserted lover (who was left in the room) who is both narrating her/his dreams/memories/delusions, speaking to her/his self (as if in a mirror), as well as speaking the dialogue to the lover who deserted her/him. So I can see how the constant change from 1st and 3rd perspectives could cause confusion. I may revise the lyrics to clarify that! Thanks again for your feedback!

Yes, I was hoping it would resonate with any reader/listener who had been left from someone they loved before.....when there is a storm, it leaves devastation in its wake, but after it clears, the earth is fresh with moist soil, better for feeding new seeds and harboring beautiful life!
