midnight shower.
midnight shower
shivering, diving into bed beside you
wet hair hanging over my shoulder
normally you love my wet hair clinging
to my skin
tonight you yelp with surprise,
and curse through laughter
trying to gather up my tangled tresses
away from the bare skin of your chest
I shiver, my body shaking and, suddenly
despite a halfhearted curse
held in your arms
laughing a little evily
we are cuddled up and warm
laughing at each other
with childhood delight
with the ridiculousness of young lovers
who rarely sleep at night
shivering, diving into bed beside you
wet hair hanging over my shoulder
normally you love my wet hair clinging
to my skin
tonight you yelp with surprise,
and curse through laughter
trying to gather up my tangled tresses
away from the bare skin of your chest
I shiver, my body shaking and, suddenly
despite a halfhearted curse
held in your arms
laughing a little evily
we are cuddled up and warm
laughing at each other
with childhood delight
with the ridiculousness of young lovers
who rarely sleep at night
