A Pain Remembered

I would guess that the pain remembered, still fully illustrated, is the pain preserved.  Pain can actually be romanticized and cherished, for various reasons.  Is there something beautiful or wistful about the pain?  Does the sufferer deserve the pain?  Her feelings are ashes under a remembered pain, still supplying ongoing evidence of the pain's reality.  His goodbye is a truth.   This is "only to her" if she chooses to allow his absence to hold sway.  She's the only one suffering.  If she can note the absence as a fact and continue forward, the pain would loose its fuel.  I'll remember this one, Grace, in a pleasant way.
