electric brittle (for Kourt)
I’m saturated
by your peppermint brittle gaze
feathered with electricity
and a sardonic shimmer
hiding somewhere around your soul
mirrored in your smile
It’s infectious
the way you tongue my thoughts
into being like they were always
meant to be words spoken aloud
The way
you read me is nothing short
of a clairvoyant’s insight burrowing
through to the wrong side of my aura
and I’m a little scared of what you might find
buried in the dimly lit pathways of my mind
where brown promises lie beneath
tarnished copper threaded webs of reality
bathed in coffee stains and last night’s nicotine
