You Could've Stopped It
Pass him on the streets
And you wouldn't see
He's been with addiction
Since the age of six
Pass her in the halls
And you wouldn't see
The bruises on her heart
Cause everyone leaves
Behind closed doors
Our stories reside
Each one is told
Each one we hide
We tell ourselves
It won't be long
Someone will come
And correct all the wrong
But what if time runs out
They take the "Easy" route
Something could have been done
You could have stopped it before it all begun
Pass him on the street
Stop him and say "Hi,
I can see you're hurting
Come tell me why"
Pass her in the halls
Look into her eyes
Tell her she's beautiful
And need not cry
Some just need a listener
Some, acknowledgment
So stay and talk a little longer
Refrain from harsh judgement
Ask with sincerity
Put others first
Pray for those in need
After all, It's love we thirst
You never know what goes on
Behind closed doors
So make a change
or regret the "What if's"
And you wouldn't see
He's been with addiction
Since the age of six
Pass her in the halls

The bruises on her heart
Cause everyone leaves
