Pour

He poured himself into my body
And he flowed like syrup to my lower half.
The day I met him, I walked different.

And then you poured yourself on top of him
And you floated like a cloud to my upper half.
The day I met you, I thought different.

He was water and you were oil,
Both of you settling into my soul until it
Sunk like an anchor
Buried into the red sea.
But then I got a breath of fresh air and my soul begins to float.

I began to smoke you,
And inhale your essence until my soul met my brain.
I thought in living color and my pupils dilated.
You were a trip that was the most traveled.
And you were the reason that I feel cloudy

Weightless.
The sweet syrup that flowed from my hips to my toes
Has subsided.
I forgot the taste.
It used to feel like a poison, forbidden and spicy
Like an apple that was dipped in cinnamon.

But you, your taste was exotic
With names like blue dream and orange crush
You have variety.
You give me a temporary insanity permanently
You make me feel like I am invincible
And that’s why water floats above oil
Because the entire time
You had more power over my heart.
