Imperfect and Lovely
I wish that I could articulate
How insignificant you aren’t
Perhaps I could ease your mind
If I was better at putting one word
Before another
I wish that I could remember everything
I remember now, but
Not much farther back
Like the moment I fell
Or the one after that
I wish that I was a better dancer
Oh, how I’d love to cut
A million rugs with you
Until we’d fall to the ground
We’d be swaying
I wish that I was a better singer
Trill or belt the most beautiful
Songs that could better emulate
Most accurate sentiments of
You, my you
I wish that we could start over
I’d be a better talker, rememberer,
Dancer and singer
You could be happier
And I’d be just fine with that
How insignificant you aren’t
Perhaps I could ease your mind
If I was better at putting one word
Before another
I wish that I could remember everything
I remember now, but
Not much farther back
Like the moment I fell
Or the one after that
I wish that I was a better dancer
Oh, how I’d love to cut
A million rugs with you
Until we’d fall to the ground
We’d be swaying
I wish that I was a better singer
Trill or belt the most beautiful
Songs that could better emulate
Most accurate sentiments of
You, my you
I wish that we could start over
I’d be a better talker, rememberer,
Dancer and singer
You could be happier
And I’d be just fine with that
