Solitary
Once held in such high regard, to retain image of self.
Reveling in revelations has helped make clear,
self preservation, was just to please someone else.
Persona a facade, smiling through a masquerade.
Innards scowling at imbeciles, taking me at value of face.
Inner thoughts festering, outer noises pestering, I try to block them out.
Trembling I whisper out the corner of my mouth, while transcribing what I'd like to shout.
No need for the noise of nosy intruders.
No more pretending, so I omit from inclusion
and seclude myself to my head.
Thoughts protrude to paper, but the words go unsaid.
