Eterna (for a friend who passed)

If this is where we say goodbye
Then I want this soundtrack on repeat,
The hugs we’ve shared to last a lifetime,
And the bonds we hold to never break.

If we must say farewell now
Then I need a photo of this moment
I want them to know that we were here
That we never wavered in our decision
To love fearlessly and sound
Like brave soldiers approaching the
Battlefield in the dead of night.
Praying for our freedom.

What if we just ran away?
Would I be able to catch you?
Can I keep up with your
Racing speed?
Or would God’s wings
Make you fly high above
The clouds
That I could never reach?

If I could keep you here forever,
I’d say so many things.
We could be our young selves again
Running carelessly through the
Rushing wind
Where only the sun and fields
Know we play.
We could be everything
We’d given up on
And echo out the
Chorus of
Championship rings
And treasures we
Continued to chase.

But if this is where we part now
Where we say our last goodbye’s,
I just want you to know
That with me, you never die.
For our love is eternal,
A friendship with no sin.
And if I had to do it over,
I’d just choose you again.
