My Self

“Not until we are lost do we begin to understand ourselves”
walking with hail of shells/ why do we hate ourselves/
wise words, quoting Henry David Thoreau/
paranoid/ can’t see a friend from a foe/
shit is hard/ through hardship we grow/
although/ I can’t escape the woe/
the wise know/ you reap what you sow/
stay loyal, trust no one and lay low/
no surrender, no retreat, going toe to toe/

time to make amend/ facing dead end/
thoughts penned/ so much I repent/
my life lacks focus and intend/
I’ll recommend the snake not to befriend/
eminent with a pen/like Eminem/
never meant to offend/
just hate people who pretend/
never condescend foe or friend /
unique, so I don’t blend/
only real ones comprehend/
a peaceful poet, but push me and I’ll pull the piece/

yo I am at war with my Self/
my ego ain’t much of a help/
might win/ but definitely lose/
so many choices but can’t choose/
got a couple of screws loose/
this life will confuse and bruise/
but it's war/ and I refuse a truce/
you are a fool if you trust the news/
speak the truth when someone you accuse/
and hold your tongue if you can't prove/
my Self I try to improve/ I payed my dues/
word is bond/ the teachings of a lost son/
