Absorbing shadows
I absorb shadows
because it's too bright.
Relentlessly I fight
the dark side of light.
It's contradictory how
someone once said
they saw in me a spark
even in shadows deep and dark.
Had they only known
that whatever observed was
a hole in the shroud
beneath which burns an inferno.
An all consuming landscape of
flames scorching my soul.
A righteousness so right,
it's wrong, unbearably strong.
Therefore I walk a path gray
vague, lost, wrecked, astray.
perhaps at times I don't make sense
some say, however that's my choice, my way.
